When the taxes go unpaid long enough, the suit is filed and the county researches the family tree to name the living heirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Live Oak County, taxes run through the Live Oak County Tax Assessor-Collector (301 Houston St., Rm 3A, George West, TX 78022; 361-449-2733), property values are set by the Live Oak County Appraisal District, and the case is on record with the Live Oak County District Clerk. All of it is public and can be confirmed before you make any decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From there, people generally resolve the lawsuit with an attorney, look into a payment arrangement, or sell their portion, which takes them out of the lawsuit without needing everyone else to agree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A couple of questions we hear a lot in Live Oak County:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>It&#8217;s ranch land none of us use.
