Picture someone we’ll call James. He lives a few states away from Texas, has a job, a family, and a life that has nothing to do with the small rural property his late great-uncle once owned. One afternoon, a sheriff’s deputy knocks on his door and hands him papers. He’s been named in a lawsuit over unpaid property taxes on land he didn’t know he had any claim to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
