A lot of our clients don’t live anywhere near the property they’ve inherited.
“I’m in Oregon.”
“I’ve been in Georgia for years.”
“I haven’t been to Texas in three decades.”
“I can’t drive right now.”
Distance from the property is one of the most common situations we run into. People move away for work, family, or just life, and the connection to a piece of family property becomes more and more distant over time. Then, decades later, a tax lawsuit shows up for a property in a state they no longer live in.
If you’re in this position, the good news is that selling your portion does not require you to travel.
The notary session that completes the sale can be done remotely. You can sign the paperwork from your phone or computer through an online notary platform. The notary verifies your identity through the camera, walks you through the documents, and you sign electronically. Most sessions take less than an hour from start to finish.
If you’d rather sign in person, that’s also an option. A mobile notary can come to wherever you are — your home, an assisted living facility, a coffee shop, anywhere convenient for you. Many of our clients prefer this option if they don’t have a computer or aren’t comfortable with online platforms.
Either way, you don’t need to travel to the property, the county where the property is located, or anywhere else to complete the sale.
Distance is one of the most common reasons people get stuck in these situations. Resolving them through traditional paths usually requires being local, hiring local attorneys, attending local court dates. Working with us doesn’t.
If you’re looking to remove yourself from a lawsuit and get paid for your interest, no cost to you, call or text us at (469) 708-8003 for an offer today.
